LegalShield, formerly known as Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. is the pioneer in the industry of underwriting and marketing legal expense plans. We are proud to be involved with a program to provide access to the legal system for the working men and women of America. Welch, Gold, & Siegel, P.C. began serving LegalShield, formerly known as Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc., members in 1994, primarily by assisting commercial truck drivers with traffic matters. As what is now known as LegalShield grew, so did the firm's involvement with the members. In August, 1996, with a membership base of about 3,500, LegalShield selected Welch, Gold, & Siegel, P.C. as the provider law firm for Pennsylvania.
Commitment to Growth
Since 1996, the firms growth has been nothing short of astounding. We decided early on to make the commitment, with both finances and time, to do what it takes to provide the finest legal services to LegalShield members and independent clients. In that effort, we added space in the Lawyers Building, their home for over 20 years. A portion of just one floor expanded to having space on three floors. A few computers soon became a complex network of telecommunication computer technology used to deliver services efficiently. The average working day of 9 to 5 soon expanded to evenings, weekends and now 24-hour service. The firm now has 20 attorneys with a wide range of legal experience and a comprehensive administrative staff to serve their clients.

Despite all of the changes that have occurred over the past 20 years, the firms commitment to our clients has not changed. We are dedicated to helping everyday people, middle class people, and small businesses with their everyday legal matters. We recognize that your legal problem is often one of, if not the most, significant problem in your life when you call us for help. When you call, you will speak with an attorney who will listen to you, answer your questions and offer practical advice to help solve any legal problem you have. Thats our commitment to you.
How to Use Your Membership
Using your membership is very easy. Here are a few tips to follow when calling our office:
- Call our toll-free phone number 1.800.375.3089 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday-Friday, EST.
- Have your LegalShield membership number handy (that number is on membership card). The customer service representative will verify your information and get some details about the nature of your call.
- You can expect a call back from an attorney within 8 business hours.
- If you are an out of state LegalShield member, please remember to dial 412.391.7339 in order to speak to a representative to take your information, and you will recieve your call within 8 business hours.
- It's always a good idea to have a pen, and paper to keep important notes, names, times, and numbers when you're speaking to your customer service representative, and also when you speak with your attorney.

If you want to send us documents, here is what to do:
- To fax: Use this number: 412.391.8232. Kindly include a cover sheet that contains your complete name, membership number, a phone number where you can be reached and an intake number if one has been assigned to you.

We Deliver Value
The true value of the LegalShield membership can be measured best by how often the members use it and what they received in return. We think the statistics below illustrate that the LegalShield membership delivers tremendous value to the members. In 2010, we
- Answered over 63,000 phone calls from members
- Handled 47,301 new requests for services
- Wrote 4,159 letters on behalf of members
- Assisted with nearly 3,900 traffic matters
- Prepared 1,296 wills
Over 90% of the 47,301 requests for service were completely handled within the scope of benefits of your LegalShield membership. We estimate that in 2010 alone, Pennsylvania LegalShield members saved a staggering $317,017.54 in legal fees as a result of the services we provided or discounted legal fees paid under the membership plan.
Preparing Your Will
A Will is an official written expression of your wishes concerning many things, including distribution of your estate, to be carried out following your death. A Will is the most effective method of accomplishing the objectives of basic estate planning:
- Selecting those who are to receive your assets;
- Determining the distribution of your estate;
- Choosing individuals to manage your estate;
- Minimizing estate settlement costs and taxes;
- Deciding upon guardians for your children; and
- Providing enough liquid capital to cover death expenses such a burial and income taxes.
Your LegalShield membership entitles you and your spouse or significant other to a high-quality basic Will. We encourage you to complete the Will Questionnaire that was included in your membership materials and send it to us via mail or
fax. If you do not have the Questionnaire, you can click here to obtain a copy of the Questionnaire that you can print, fill out and send to us. We will review it, contact you to discuss the information and prepare a Will specifically designed for you shortly thereafter.
