Our Partnership with Pre-Paid Legal Services
Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. is the pioneer in the industry of underwriting and marketing legal expense plans. We are proud to be involved with a program to provide access to the legal system for the working men and women of America. Welch, Gold, & Siegel, PC began serving Pre-Paid Legal Services®, Inc., members in 1994, primarily by assisting commercial truck drivers with traffic matters. As Pre-Paid Legal grew, so did the firm’s involvement with the members. In August, 1996, with a membership base of about 3,500, Pre-Paid Legal selected Welch, Gold, & Siegel, PC as the provider law firm for Pennsylvania.
Commitment to Growth
Since 1996, the firm’s growth has been nothing short of astounding. We decided early on to make the commitment, with both finances and time, to do what it takes to provide the finest legal services to Pre-Paid Legal members and independent clients. In that effort, we added space in the Lawyers Building, their home for over 20 years. A portion of just one floor expanded to having space on three floors. A few computers soon became a complex network of telecommunication computer technology used to deliver services efficiently. The average working day of 9 to 5 soon expanded to evenings, weekends and now 24-hour service. The firm now has 25 attorneys with a wide range of legal experience and an administrative staff to serve their clients.

Despite all of the changes that have occurred over the past 20 years, the firm’s commitment to our clients has not changed. We are dedicated to helping everyday people, middle class people, and small businesses with their everyday legal matters. We recognize that your legal problem is often one of, if not the most, significant problem in your life when you call us for help. Using your membership is very easy. Here are a few tips to follow when calling our office:

- Have your Pre-Paid membership number handy (that number is on membership card). The customer service representative will verify your information and get some details about the nature of your call.

We Deliver Value
The true value of the Pre-Paid membership can be measured best by how often the members use it and what they received in return. We think the statistics below illustrate that the Pre-Paid membership delivers tremendous value to the members. In 2004, we
- Answered over 103,000 phone calls from Pre-Paid members
- Handled over 63,000 new requests for services
- Wrote over 18,000 letters on behalf of Pre-Paid members
- Assisted with nearly 4,600 traffic matters
- Prepared over 2,000 wills
Over 90% of the 63,000 requests for service were completely handled within the scope of benefits outlined in Title I of the Family Plan. We estimate that in 2004 alone, Pennsylvania Pre-Paid members saved over $1,000,000 in legal fees as a result of the services we provided or discounted legal fees paid under the membership plan.
Preparing Your Will
A Will is an official written expression of your wishes concerning many things, including distribution of your estate, to be carried out following your death. A Will is the most effective method of accomplishing the objectives of basic estate planning:
- Selecting those who are to receive your assets;
- Determining the distribution of your estate;
- Choosing individuals to manage your estate;
- Minimizing estate settlement costs and taxes;
- Deciding upon guardians for your children; and
- Providing enough liquid capital to cover death expenses such a burial and income taxes.
Many people mistakenly believe that without a Will their assets will automatically go to their spouse, partner or children at death. This is not necessarily true. Without a Will, your estate will pass by one of three methods: jointly held property, contracts (life insurance, annuities, trust accounts, etc.), or intestacy. Relying on any one or more of these methods will likely result in distribution of your estate that does not conform to your wishes, delayed distribution, higher probate costs or increased death taxes. Pre-Paid Legal has made it simple and cost-effective to avoid these pitfalls.
Your Pre-Paid Legal membership entitles you and your spouse or significant other to a high-quality basic Will. We encourage you to complete the Will Questionnaire that was included in your membership materials and send it to us via mail or facsimile. We will review it, contact you to discuss the information and prepare a Will specifically designed for you shortly thereafter.
